Yorkshire Amateur AFC v Rangers Match Preview

Our pre-season schedule starts on Thursday 4th July (7:45 pm) when we face Yorkshire Amateur AFC at Skelton Road (home of East End Park FC).
In the recent vein of challenging pre-season matches, both Dan Marshall and Ben Lawrence see this as a contest that will test every area of Rangers game plan. As Ben commented following a recent training session “We don’t want easy fixtures, but ones that will challenge and help us grow and learn.”
Yorkshire Amateur AFC
The “Ammers” finished last season in 5th position in the NCEL Premier Division on their return to the top fight, following 27 campaigns in the first division. Managed by the duo of Neil Sibson and Philip Harding, and having recently installed former Harrogate Railway Athletic manager Craig Ogilvie into their ranks, there can be no doubt that Yorkshire Amateurs certainly have the experience in the dugout to lead them even higher.
Player wise, they have been active bringing in former Brighouse Town captain Adam Field, Alhassane Keita from Albion Sports and Niall Heaton from Guiseley. They have also been boosted by the news that NCEL top scorer for the past two seasons, Ashley Flynn has also committed for another season.
Head To Head
The database shows no competitive meetings between the two teams*, but there have been a few friendlies over the years with victories shared between the two sides.
What’s The Team News?
At the moment, Rangers management are keeping their team close to their chests. It is believed, however, that players that the trio wish to look at from the Reserves, as well as a few new faces, will appear.
How About The “Ammers?”
There is not much known as to what type of team Yorkshire Amateur will field, apart from it will be a strong one. They have a pre-season match against Albion Sports AFC on the 1st July, so players who haven’t been chosen or had limited game time in the Albion match, may well feature.
However, they have an impressive squad of players to choose from such as Jason St. Juste (ex Darlington), Fernando Moke (Bradford (ex Park Avenue)) and Roy Fogarty (ex Bradford City) to name just a few.
How Can I follow The Game?
The match is being played at Skelton Road (not Amateur's home ground of Bracken Edge, which is being seeded ready for the new season).
The address is Skelton Road, Leeds LS9 9EP and can be reached from either the M621 or A64. For complete instructions, please click here to open East End Park FC’s website.
There is no entry charge for this match.
