Shelley FC v Kirk Deighton Rangers Match Preview

In another tough match, Rangers start September with a trip over to Huddersfield to play Shelley, who are one of the fancied teams in the league. However, buoyed by a great 3-2 win over previously unbeaten Campion last weekend, the team go into this game full of confidence.

The match, which has a 2:30 pm kick-off time, should be played in decent weather with light clouds and gentle breezes forecast.

The Opposition.

Shelley moved into Division One courtesy of a third placed finish in Division Two last season, and following the pattern set by their fellow promoted clubs, they have wasted little time climbing into the top three!

Sitting in third position with a total of 12 points from a possible 18. They have already scored wins over Kippax, Oxenhope Recreation, Wyke Wanderers and Featherstone Colliery, but fallen foul of Hartshead and Campion.

With a goal average of 3.7 goals scored per game, compared to just 1.5 goals conceded per game, Rangers will need to be on top form to get something from our hosts, but we like playing the top teams, so it does have all the makings of being a quality game between two footballing sides.

Head To Head.

According to our database, this is the first time that the two teams have met, but as there are several years to be entered, it is possible that the clubs have played each other before.

Team News For Rangers.

It’s a bit of a headache for Manager Dan Marshall and his coaching team with several players on the injury list. Like the Campion match, they will be running their eyes over several players before the team is announced.

Captain Joe Wilks will be absent from this game as he starts his three-match ban following his dismissal against Campion.

What About East End Park?

Despite having quite an online presence, there doesn’t seem to be much about Shelley’s West Yorkshire league team with more emphasis on their main side which plays in the North West Counties League.

The Man In The Middle.

The referee for this game will be Mr Alan Clough. This will be Mr Clough’s second match in charge so far, and in his last match, there were no cards or sin-bins recorded!
