Rangers first team face another tough Pre-Season challenge tomorrow evening when they welcome Knaresborough Town Reserves to Barr Field.
The match has a 7 pm kick-off time and it could be a mixed evening weather wise, with light cloud and light showers forecast.
Knaresborough are a well-established team in the local football scene. Not only do they have a thriving first-team who did well in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division, but they have a very strong Reserves side who have been a mainstay of the West Yorkshire Premier League for many a year. Last season, their reserves finished 8th last season and will be looking to finish even higher this coming campaign.
Head To Head.
The last time that the two teams met was in the quarter final of the Whitworth Cup last season. It was a superb game that was won by Knaresborough in the 95th minute to make the score 2-1 (Charlie Yates scored our goal).
Our database shows quite a few meetings with various Knaresborough teams from our inception in 1946 and on the whole, we have a pretty decent record against them, although in recent years, it is our hosts who hold the higher percentage of wins!
Team News For Rangers.
As has been the case for the other Pre-Season games, Manager Dan Marshall will be wanting to look at players in several positions. However, it is expected that he will be putting out a very strong team. We may see a few new faces and also some of the youngsters that have impressed so much in the other games. Goalkeeper Jonty Smith is expected to return, with Andy Maxted moving back into the outfield.
What About Knaresborough.
It looks like this may be the opening fixture for Knaresborough’s Reserves, but their first team have already played a few games, so there may be a few changes in personnel to allow for game time etc. We do know that it will be a strong squad that travels over to us, which should make for a great game of football.
Following The Game.
Unfortunately, due to work commitments, there will not be our regular social media updates from this game.
The gates will be open from around 6pm, and all are welcome to Barr Field. Our club house will be serving a wide range of beverages for your enjoyment at a great price before, at half-time and after the final whistle.
Please come down and support the teams, hopefully you will be going home celebrating a Rangers win.
