Pool AFC Reserves v Kirk Deighton Rangers Reserves Match Preview.

Following a bit of a hiatus, our Reserves return to the pitch this Saturday when they journey over to Pool AFC.

The match has a 2:30 pm kick-off and a look at the weather shows light rain showers are a strong possibility at the start of the game.

The Opponents.

Pool have had a torrid start to this campaign, and I don’t think anyone would have predicted the 16-0 scoreline against them by Ilkley on the opening day. They bounced back the next game and claimed an entertaining, by all accounts, 4-4 draw against Howden Clough before falling 3-1 to Old Centralians in their last match.

It’s been a hard time for Pool’s Reserves since their relegation from the Alliance League 1 in 2017/18. Tipped to be one of the teams that would bounce straight back, they spent last season in the lower reaches of the table before finishing bottom.

Head To Head.

As far as can be seen, the two sides have only met last season and this ended in two wins for Rangers. However, as the old saying goes beware the injured animal! Without doubt, Pool will be wanting their first win and will be putting everything into getting it against us, which means our lads will have to be switched on to make sure this doesn’t happen.

Team News For Rangers.

It’s only early doors for the club as a whole, but injuries are starting to mount up and cause issues for both senior teams. Brad Spencer and Jack Abbott will be missing through injury, and Manager Kris Macdonald will be checking on the status of several other players before deciding on his final team.

What About Pool AFC.

All Pool’s goals have come through different players so far, so it looks like that they have the ability to be able to strike from anywhere, which Rangers will have to watch closely. There is no news available about what kind of team they will field, but like us, they have no suspension worries to take into this game.

The Man In The Middle.

The referee will be Mr Martin Ohr. This will be Mr Ohr’s first game of the season in charge, although he was a linesman in the Newsome v Robin Hood match.
