Old Centralians Reserves v Rangers Reserves Match Preview.

Our Reserves head over to Leeds to play Old Centralians Reserves on Saturday with the squad looking to build upon the positives that were witnessed during the Hampsthwaite United game.

The match has a 1pm kick-off time, but the weather may well play a part with light to moderate showers forecast for the whole of the game, despite the temperature being a pleasant 20 degrees C throughout!

The Opposition.

Last season didn’t go to well for our hosts with an eventual finish of second from bottom in the Alliance Division 2. Looking back at the final league tables, Old Centralians Reserves appeared to join the West Yorkshire setup in time for the 2015/2016 season and have either been in the top five (missing out on promotion twice) or down the unwanted end of the table.

One thing that is known is that they are a difficult team to play and break down. They are a hard-working side, which means that our Reserves will have to be on their game if they want to come back with a decent result!

Head To Head.

With both sets of Reserves being in the same league, we have played one another for the past two seasons. At the moment, we hold the upper hand with Cents yet to beat us in a competitive match.

The last time the two sides met was on the 2nd March 2019 when a brace from Brad Spencer and one from Chris Plews saw us run out 3-1 winners.

Team News For Rangers.

It is expected that the players who didn’t feature, or didn’t get much game time, in the 1-0 win over Knaresborough Town Reserves on Wednesday will take part in this match.

We may also see a few new faces, which will be good for Manager Kris Macdonald as he continues to build his squad for the season. One thing for certain is that it will be a competitive side that wears the new blue and white kit!

What About Old Centralians?

Nothing is really known about the team that they will field. They will be determined to get a good start this season, and have been heavily advertising for new players on their Social Media page, so it is likely that it will be a mixture of players new and old.

It will be a good game however, as Centralians are a difficult side to come up against no matter the stage of the season!

Following The Game.

Unfortunately, due to long standing commitments, there will not be our regular social media updates from this game.

Should you wish to cheer on the lads, the address of Old Centralians ground is West Park Development Centre, North Parade, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS16 5AY
