Match Preview: Wetherby Athletic

Never mind your regular Liverpool/Everton, City/United or even Old Firm derbies, the only one that counts takes place on Saturday at The Ings as Kirk Deighton Rangers make the short journey to play Wetherby Athletic.
The game is scheduled for a 2:30pm kick-off and the weather promises to be a mixed affair with both showers and sunshine forecast throughout!
Over the past few months, Athletic have seen a reverse in form under managers Matt Barnfather and Mick O’Toole and have claimed some impressive results to lift them out of the bottom three and into 11th place. We know how dangerous they can be having managed to get a narrow 2-1 win at Barr Field in January. Goals that day came from Charlie Yates and Joe Wilks and a match report can be found here.

On home soil, Athletic have won four out of the thirteen games that they have played. Further points have come from two draws against Leeds Modernians and more recently Otley Town. In the goals department, they have scored 28 times whilst conceding 35.
Both teams appear free from suspensions, but with a few absences and injuries picked up in recent matches, Manager Dan Marshall will wait until the last minute to decide on his squad.
The referee for this game will be Mr Justin Sales. Over the course of this season, he has taken charge of the whistle thirteen times, with another eight as assistant referee. Mr Sales has handed out ten yellow cards only.
