Match Preview: Salts FC Reserves

Cometh the time, cometh the team! With one match left, the permutations are simple, win and promotion awaits, lose or draw and its in the lap of the footballing gods!
Whatever happens, it’s going to be a superb match as we welcome second placed Salts FC Reserves to Barr Field on Saturday. Kick-off for this nail-bitter will be 2:30pm and looking at the weather, it may be a wise idea to bring an umbrella as rain showers are forecast throughout the afternoon.
It really doesn't get much closer than this. Salts lie one place above us with a two-point lead, but at the summit, Boroughbridge are also two points clear but with all their games completed. Behind us, we have Otley Town, who beat Salts 4-1 last weekend, three points adrift of us, but with two games left to play. So, destiny really is in our hands as a win would lift us into top place, but more importantly, guarantee us promotion and leave the other two places between Boroughbridge, Salts and Otley!
In the league our visitors are, as one would expect with a team pushing for the title, pretty ruthless, having only dropped a total of eight away points from a possible 36. We have beaten Salts on their own soil, when braces by Chris Plews and Phil Turner, added to a Vito D’Avanzo goal sealed a high scoring 5-3 win!
Looking at the league stats table, we will need to watch Oliver Hulme, who has hit 18 league goals so far. A reconnoitre further down the page also shows that Nathan Hartley (16), Andrew Sadowskyj (14) and Matthew Bailey (11) are also adept at finding the target.
The referee for this game is Mr Tahir Khan. Over the season, he has been in the middle for seven matches and three others as an Assistant Referee. During these contests, he has shown just two yellow cards. We hope that Mr Khan has a pleasant time whilst he is at Barr Field.
Please come and support the team in their last game of the season, the gates will be open from approx. 12:30pm and you are more than welcome to come and join us for a drink in our clubhouse. We will be serving our matchday special for just £2.50 per bottle, as well as a wide choice of both alcoholic and soft drinks for you to buy before, at half-time and after the game.
Also, if you have any spare pennies and would like to donate them to a great cause, we will also have our prostate Cancer UK collection boxes around the clubhouse. You can also buy one of their great Men United Pin Badges for a pound (or two!) from these boxes as well.
