Match Preview: Pool AFC

It’s a trip to Arthington Lane on Saturday as we face Pool AFC in the West Yorkshire League Division One. The game kicks-off at 2:30pm and a glance at the weather forecast shows that we should have sunny intervals and strong winds to contend with.
Our hosts lie third from bottom in the league but are always a threat and a difficult side to play. Manager Dan Marshall and his generals will be only too aware of this and will drilling his squad on the need to manage the game to make sure that all the points come home with us.
Pool’s last league win came back in October 2018, although they had success in the Wharfedale & District FA Cup since, so as each league game passes, they will be desperate to claim their first victory. At home they have the record of two wins, two draws and six defeats. They have scored 16 goals which is the third lowest amount at home in the league and conceded the 12th highest with 27. The FA website lists Joshua Wagstaff as Pool’s leading league goalscorer with 9 goals at present.
A win for us could see us close the gap on Newsome as they have no game this weekend. A defeat will also have no bearing at present as the team below us Hartshead have a cup match, but annoying enough will be five games behind us!
Taking charge of this match will be Mr Colin Woods. Mr Woods has only officiated two games so far and has only issued one yellow card so far. Hopefully this figure will be the same after this contest as well.
Should you wish to watch this game, then the address that you will need is Arthington Lane, Pool-in-Wharfedale, LS21 1LG.
