Match Preview: Old Centralians Reserves

Saturday afternoon sees our Reserve side welcome Old Centralians to Barr Field for a West Yorkshire Alliance League Division Two match. Kick-off is 2pm and a quick look at the weather shows that light rain and a moderate breeze are forecast, so please remember to wrap up warm if you are coming to watch the game.
With a return of four points from the past two games, it’s looking like the recent slump may be a thing of the past. The team will be going all out to make sure that the revival continues this weekend but are also well aware that they are against a team desperate for points to climb out of the bottom places, so will be scraping for every ball and every chance and will not be making life easy for Rangers!
At present, our visitors sit in 13th place with a total of seven points. On the road they have collected one of these points with a 3-3 draw against Ilkley Town Reserves. Their away record, so far, reads played 6, won 0, drawn 1 and lost 5. They have scored 12 goals (avg. 2.0 goals scored per away game) but have conceded more than double that with 30 against (avg. 5.0 goals conceded per away game).
Looking at the stats on the FA website, Ash Anderson is their main goalscorer with 8 goals so far (all scored in the league). The same player still appears on the Suspended Players list, but it appears that he has served his three-match ban and can return to their starting lineup.
This will be the first time that the two sides have met this season, with the reverse fixture being cancelled in December. Should Rangers get all three points, then this will help them close the gap on Ilkley Town as they are in action in the West Yorkshire League Trophy against Oxenhope Recreation. A defeat could see us overtaken by Otley, providing they beat Sherburn White Rose Reserves.
The referee for this game is Mr. John Murray. He has already been in charge of seven games, with a further seven coming as an Assistant Referee. According to the stats, Mr. Murray has shown six yellow cards and no red ones. We hope that Mr. Murray has a pleasant time whilst he is with us at Barr Field.
We would also like to wish our visiting team, their fans and officials a pleasant journey to and from our ground. The gates will be open from around 12:30pm and you are more than welcome to come and join us for a drink in our clubhouse. We will be serving our matchday special for just £2.00 per bottle, and there will also be a great range of both alcoholic and soft drinks for you to buy before, at half-time and after the game.
Also, if you have any spare pennies and would like to donate them to a great cause, we will also have our prostate Cancer UK collection boxes around the clubhouse. You can also buy one of their great Men United Pin Badges for a pound (or two!) from these boxes as well.
