Match Preview: Marsden Reserves

It’s not just our First Team that have a difficult cup tie this weekend, our Reserves travel to Fall Lane in Huddersfield to take on Marsden Reserves in the West Riding County Challenge Trophy. Kick-off is scheduled to be 2pm and a look at the weather app shows that it should be an afternoon full of sunny spells!
Following a hard earned, but frustrating, point against Rothwell Reserves last weekend, Player/Manager Kris Macdonald will be looking for his team to produce another battling display against a side sitting second in the Huddersfield and District Reserve Division 4 (equal on points with current leaders Hepworth United, but losing out on top spot due to goal difference).
A quick review of their league shows that Marsden have won three of the four games that they have played at home, with points being dropped in the 4-3 defeat to Britannia Sports a couple of weeks ago. They seem to have no problems scoring on their soil with the target being found 18 times (avg. 4.5 goals per game), compared to 8 conceded (avg. 2.0 goals per game).
The FA goalscoring stats show that Marsden have the league’s leading scorer in their ranks in Oliver Ratcliffe. Ratcliffe has found the back of the net 14 times already and will need to be carefully watched by Rangers defence if they want to get into the next round. Following Ratcliffe in the top 15 is Joseph Bingham and Lee Wood who have 6 and 5 goals respectively.
