Match Preview: Leeds City

In what is sure to be another tough cup match for Rangers on Saturday, we have the pleasure of welcoming West Yorkshire Premier League Leaders Leeds City to Barr Field for this West Riding County Challenge Cup Second Round game. Kick-off for this game is at 2pm and it should be a dry afternoon!
We will be holding a minutes silence before the match to pay our respects to the five people, including the Chairman of Leicester City, Mr Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, who tragically lost their lives in the helicopter crash last Saturday.
Despite narrowly losing 5-3 on penalties against Robin Hood Athletic last weekend and watching our interest in the West Yorkshire League Cup come to an end, Manager Dan Marshall took a lot of heart in the performance that we produced to match our Premier League counterparts and he will be hoping that Rangers produce that same spirit against a side who have tasted success on many an occasion.
Our visitors have often been lauded by many an opposition as, not only the team to beat in the West Yorkshire set-up, but also the one to emulate in respects to football played. A very successful side, this match should certainly be a great game between two entities wishing to play the sport the right way!
Whilst we were cursing the woodwork as Jack Cheetham’s shot cannoned off it at 3-3, Leeds were having an easier time in their League Cup tie, comfortably demolishing Sherburn White Rose 7-0 at Adel. A quick look at the stats provided by the FA show that Joe Tasker leads their goalscoring list (league and cup combined) with 9 goals and that Leeds have yet to be beaten on the road this season in both league and cup!
Both teams appear to be carrying no suspensions, and like a few times of late, Dan and First Team Coach Ben Lawrence will run their eyes over serval players returning from injury.
The match officials for this match have yet to be named by the County FA, but we wish them all a pleasant time whilst they are with us at Barr Field.
The gates to the ground will be open from around 12:30pm and you are more than welcome to come and join us for a drink in our clubhouse. We will be serving our matchday special for just £2.00 per bottle, and there will also be a great range of both alcoholic and soft drinks for you to buy before, at half-time and after the game.
Also if you have any spare pennies and would like to donate them to a great cause, we will also have our prostate Cancer UK collection boxes around the clubhouse. You can also buy one of their great Men United Pin Badges for a pound (or two!) from these boxes as well.
We are still on the lookout for a match sponsor for this game, so if you, or your business would like to get involved and get your logo/brand known to our supporters, please let our Media Officer Pete Arnett know by clicking here. For just £25.00, it is a great way to get involved!
