After the thrill of last weekend’s 4-3 win over Otley Town in the West Yorkshire League Cup, our First Team return to the bread and butter action of the League as we face a difficult away game against Kippax FC. The match is set to start at 2:30pm and it may be an idea to bring some wellies and an umbrella, as rain is forecast for most of the day!
Manager Dan Marshall will be hoping that, starting with this match, we can get our erratic away form under control. At present we have picked up seven points from a possible fifteen and scored and conceded in almost equal measures, with 14 and 12 in the goals for and against columns.
Over the past five league games, Kippax have slightly the better form with nine points collected compared to our seven. At home, they have won and lost two apiece, scoring five goals (avg. 1.25 goals per game) and conceding six (avg. 1.5 goals per game) They are on a bit of a roll on their own soil having won their last two games (1-0 against Newsome and 2-0 against Rothwell) and will no doubt be looking to make it a hat-trick of successes against us! Looking at the stats on the FA website, Joe Thorpe is the man to watch with 4 goals already.
A win for us could see us potentially jump into fourth place (with other results going our way), whilst a defeat will see us stay in 7th, but possibly allow a few teams at the top to open a very large gap over us!
Both teams have no problems in the suspension area and Dan will be hoping to welcome back some players from injury. However, it does look like winger Rob Holliday will miss this game due to a knock that he picked up against Otley Town.
The referee for this match is Mr Martin Green. Mr Green has been in charge of three other games this season and appears to have issued no yellow or red cards in any of these contests - lets hope that continues on Saturday!
