Match Preview: Howden Clough Reserves

It’s a road trip to Batley for our Reserves team on Saturday as they travel to Howden Clough looking for the win that will keep them top of the league!
The game has a 2:30pm kick-off time and the weather is set to be decent with a light breeze, so all-in-all, a perfect day for football!
On paper, this looks like an easy tie for us as Howden are struggling in the lower reaches of the table and find themselves in 11th place with 24 points from a possible 63. As we are only too aware however, they are a tough team to breakdown and will, without doubt, cause us problems. Having lost 3-0 to us at Barr Field in February (goals from Mike Tasker (2) and Chris Plews) Howden will also be wanting revenge and home advantage can be a powerful thing!
At their Batley Sports & Tennis Centre home, they have won two of the ten games that they have played with the other eight being registered as defeats. They have scored 15 times (which is the third lowest home record in the division) and conceded 39 (which is the second highest home record in the division).
Both teams appear to be suspension free and Player/Manager Kris Macdonald should have a good pool of players to choose from. Chris Plews will be looking to increase his tally and push himself further out in front as the race for the club’s leading scorer hots up! Danny Gore will also be looking to take his total into double figures, so hopefully we will see some goals!
Taking charge of this game is Mr. John McHale. This will be his eighth game in charge with three others as an assistant. We know Mr McHale from a couple of weeks ago when he took charge of our 3-1 win over Old Centralians Reserves. Discipline wise, he has issued five yellow cards and a single red so far.
If you would like to come and watch this game, then the address you will need is Batley Sports & Tennis Centre, Windmill Lane, Howden Clough, Batley, WF17 0QD.
