Following an unexpected weekend off due to the weather, our Reserves team host East End Park Reserves at Barr Field on Saturday, hopefully Mother Nature won’t interfere in this one as the forecast is sunny intervals and light cloud. Kick-Off is 2:30pm and everyone is welcome!
Games against East End Park are never easy, and Manager Kris Macdonald knows that his side will have to be up for a both a footballing and physical contest if they want to get all three points.
Our visitors roll into Deighton on the back on a four-game unbeaten streak which consists of two wins and draws respectively. On their travels they have a pretty even record with three wins, one draw and four defeats. They have scored 27 times, which is the third highest away from home, but have conceded 25, which is the sixth highest, so pretty even in that respect as well.
One point in East End’s favour is Phil Jarvis. Jarvis is on fire in the league goalscoring stakes and tops the charts with an impressive 22 goals. However, we are the one club that he hasn’t scored against this season, as the last time we met we came home with all three points, courtesy of a 3-0 win and goals from Chris Plews, Jacob Little and Mike Tasker.
A look at the Player Suspension Table on the FA website shows that our visitors will be missing Ben Rennison who is serving a three-match ban at present.
The referee for this game will be Mr Richard Douglas. Mr Douglas has been in charge of nine other matches and has issued five yellow cards and a single red one.
We would also like to wish our visiting team, their fans and officials a pleasant journey to and from our ground. The gates will be open from around 12:30pm and you are more than welcome to come and join us for a drink in our clubhouse. We will be serving our matchday special for just £2.00 per bottle, and there will also be a great range of both alcoholic and soft drinks for you to buy before, at half-time and after the game.
Also, if you have any spare pennies and would like to donate them to a great cause, we will also have our prostate Cancer UK collection boxes around the clubhouse. You can also buy one of their great Men United Pin Badges for a pound (or two!) from these boxes as well.
