After the disappointing 0-0 draw against local rivals Wetherby Athletic midweek, Rangers will be hoping to get back to winning ways this Saturday as we welcome Campion to Barr Field.
The match has a 2:30 pm kick-off time and, at present, it looks to be pretty decent weather with perhaps a few spots of rain early doors during the game.
Campion have wasted no time proving their credentials in this league and have raced to the top of the table with four wins from the five games that they have played. So far they, alongside Glasshoughton, remain the only teams not to be beaten so far. In the process, the Bradford based side have scored an impressive 21 times (avg. 4.2 goals per game) however, they have let in 10 (avg. 2.0 goals per game) which could be a worry for them.
Last season, they stormed Division 2, losing just two league games all season, and in the end wrapped up the title with a nine-point gap over Glasshoughton.
Head To Head.
It looks like (according to our database) this will be the first time that the two teams have met, so it’s great to see a new team and faces at Barr Field.
Team News For Rangers.
Danny Grannon suffered a knock against Wetherby and will be assessed by Dan Marshall and his team before the game. As we know, Joe Straker is still absent due to his knee injury and several other players will be looked at before Dan can name his final squad.
What About Campion?
Like us, Campion have a decent enough pool of players to choose from, so it should be a very competitive team that takes to the pitch. Mohammad Qasim and Jahro Parchment have already raced to the top of the goal scorers table with 5 and 6 goals respectively, so it looks like our defence will have to be solid to keep them out.
Like us, they have no suspended players, so that is one thing that both managers won’t have to worry about.
The Man In The Middle.
The referee for this game will be Mr John Murray. This will be Mr Murray’s third game in charge (with two others as linesman) and so far, he has shown three yellow cards only.
As with all the officials that visit Barr Field, we hope that Mr Murray has a pleasant and hassle-free time whilst he is with us.
Following The Match.
We will hopefully have our Social Media up and going for this game, so if you can’t attend, tune into our Twitter feed to be keep informed of how that match is progressing.
The gates will be open at around 1.00 pm and all fans from both teams are guaranteed a warm welcome. Our clubhouse will be pulling pints and serving a wide range of beverages (both alcoholic and soft) so everyone can enjoy a drink, Pre, at half-time and after the referee has brought things to a close!
We will also have a matchday special drinks offer on, so please see the noticeboard near the bar for more details.
Also, if you have any spare pennies and would like to donate them to a great cause, we will also have our prostate Cancer UK collection boxes around the clubhouse. You can also buy one of their great Men United Pin Badges for a pound (or two!) from these boxes as well.
We will be presenting our Kirk Deighton Rangers B&F Electrical Distributors Man Of The Match Award after the game, so please stay and give the winning player your support.
