It’s been a frustrating time for our Reserves as they have suffered three narrow defeats on the bounce, but they will be looking to put that right on Saturday when they welcome Howden Clough to Barr Field for the latest West Yorkshire Alliance Division 2 match.
The game has a 2:30 pm kick-off time and a look at the weather app shows a mixture of weather with light rain showers, sunny intervals and light winds all forecast.
Howden Clough have struggled to get going this season and, up-to-date, sit in tenth place with a total of five points from 24. On their travels, they have performed better then on home soil, picking up all five points, including a good 5-0 win over Wyke Wanderers Reserves.
Goal wise, Howden are the fourth highest away team scorers out of the whole league. They have hit the target 13 times in 5 games, giving them an average of 2.6 goals per game scored. This figure is somewhat deflated however as they have also conceded 12 goals, giving them an average of 2.4 goals conceded. With Rangers having an average of 3.5 home goals scored, hopefully we will be celebrating a win!
All three points for Kris Macdonald’s men could lift us up several places into third spot, whilst a defeat could drop us one spot into 8th.
Head To Head.
The two teams have already met this season when we ran out 4-0 victors, courtesy of goals from Jack Holliday (2), Jake Little and Brad Spencer. This win took our total to 5-0 over the Batley based side.
Team News For Rangers.
Kris Macdonald will be fielding a strong side, as he looks to reverse a run of defeats. There will hopefully be returns for defenders Craig Hall, Mason Sheridan-Hawley and Mike Tasker, who all missed last week’s 4-3 defeat to Rothwell FC Reserves.
Up front, Will Hodson will be hoping to add to the six goals he has bagged already.
The Man In The Middle.
Mr Jason Smith takes control of this match. This will be his sixth game in charge (although he also has a postponement and an abandonment to his name this season!) and he can point to another five matches where he has been an Assistant Referee.
In his matches in charge, he has issued six yellow cards and sent one player to the sin-bin.
As with all the traveling players, officials and fans, we hope that Mr Smith has a pleasant and hassle-free time whilst he is with us at Barr Field.
Following The Match.
As normal for a 2:30 pm kick-off, the gates should be open an hour before for the general public and our club house will be ready to serve you a great range of drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic), so please come in and say hello and enjoy yourself before the match starts. We will be featuring our match day special drink, which you can purchase at a great price.
Also, if you have any spare pennies and would like to donate them to a great cause, we will also have our prostate Cancer UK collection boxes around the clubhouse. You can also buy one of their great Men United Pin Badges for a pound (or two!) from these boxes as well.
To end the afternoon, we will be presenting our Kirk Deighton Rangers Bar Three Man Of The Match award to the wining player, so please stay and give the lucky recipient your congratulations.
