At home, they have subjected to some pretty torrid score-lines having been beaten 8-0 by Huddersfield Amateur Res (although this was in the West Riding County FA Challenge Cup) and more recently 7-1 by East End Park Reserves. This more recent defeat seems to fall under the “freak” category as they have, on home s

Rangers And Wetherby & District Foodbank

One of our continuing goals at Kirk Deighton Rangers AFC is to try and become more active within our community. This is a sentiment that is shared by Chairman Rich Strike. As such, we are pleased to announce that we would like to help Wetherby & District Food Bank by becoming a collection point for anyone wishing to donate certain items of food. As has been highlighted in the national press, the need for individuals and families to use food banks has grown at an alarming rate. The work that Food Banks, such as Wetherby and many others around the UK do, is vital in making sure that people have access to food should they need it. Wetherby & District Food Bank is urgently looking for donations

Craig was hoping to raise an initial target of £500.00 but easily surpassed that and raised a final amount of £857.20. Craig Robson is sponsored by:

Whitworth Cup Draw

Following their recent 5-1 win over Pannal Sports Club in the Preliminary Round, we now know that over opponents in the First Round Proper of the Whitworth Cup will be Ripon City! The match will be played on the 16th November 2019 at Mallorie Park Drive and has yet to have a kick-off time announced, although we believe that it will be 2pm. This won't be the first time that we have met the West Yorkshire League Two side at this stage of the competition as it also happened last season, although at Barr Field. In that match, goals from Charlie Yates (2), Joe Straker and Joe Turley secured a 4-1 win (click here for the Match Report). Please come and support the lads as they look to progress in t

Match Report: Oxenhope Recreation 2 v 3 Kirk Deighton Rangers.

A second-half goal by Charlie Yates settled this affair, but it will be the stunning strikes by both Joe Wilks and Josh Bhandal that will live long in the mind! With Oxenhope gaining their first win of the season last weekend having over Wetherby Athletic, Rangers knew that this would be a tough match, and were right! Rangers started the match well and Yates forced the keeper into a hurried clearance after only a minute. It was the striker’s pass to Wilks that allowed him to step inside his man and unleash a shot that flew past the keeper and into the top corner to give Deighton a fourth-minute advantage. Jack Holliday showed early signs of being a menace to Oxenhope’s defence, but he was we

The Dugout Reaction!

A disjointed performance cost Rangers Reserves when they let Rothwell FC Reserves race into a three-goal lead within 20 minutes. A superb fightback, despite the dismissal of Andy Maxted, in the second half gave Rangers hope, but in the end, the visitors left with a 4-3 win and all the points! Following the game, Manager Kris Macdonald spoke to the Media Officer. Here is what he had to say about … The comeback being great, but difficult when three goals down. Yeah, you’ve hit the nail right on the head. For the first twenty minutes shape wise we were all over the place and couldn’t get to grips with their number 8 who, to be fair, took his goals really well. We tried to counter this, but for

Match Report: Kirk Deighton Rangers Reserves 3 v 4 Rothwell FC Reserves

Following a narrow penalty shoot-out defeat in the last game, Rangers Reserves were determined to recapture the form that had seen them win four of their opening five league matches. However, a disastrous first-half derailed that hope! Rothwell took the lead within 120 seconds when a flowing move picked out their attacker who spun a defender and chipped the ball over Lewis Mallinson. Rangers tried to respond, but Andy Maxted was called offside as he moved too quickly to try and receive Sam Straker’s ball over the Rothwell backline. The match had reached six minutes and most of the play belonged to the visitors, so it was little surprise when an unmarked red and black shirt was able to stick

Oxenhope Recreation v Kirk Deighton Rangers Match Preview

It’s another tough game for Rangers as they make the long journey over to the picturesque home of Oxenhope Recreation this Saturday. Please note, at this moment we are not sure if the game will take place at The Recreation Ground or Marley Playing Fields in Keighley. As soon as we know, we will inform you. The game has a 2:30 pm kick-off time, and a look at the weather shows a mixture of light cloud, showers and sunny intervals! The Opposition. Oxenhope grabbed their first three points of the season with a hard fought 1-0 win over our neighbours Wetherby Athletic. We know that they are a difficult team to play as it took a goal late into the match to beat them 1-0 at Barr Field a few weeks a

Kirk Deighton Rangers Reserves v Howden Clough Reserves Match Preview.

It’s been a frustrating time for our Reserves as they have suffered three narrow defeats on the bounce, but they will be looking to put that right on Saturday when they welcome Howden Clough to Barr Field for the latest West Yorkshire Alliance Division 2 match. The game has a 2:30 pm kick-off time and a look at the weather app shows a mixture of weather with light rain showers, sunny intervals and light winds all forecast. The Opposition. Howden Clough have struggled to get going this season and, up-to-date, sit in tenth place with a total of five points from 24. On their travels, they have performed better then on home soil, picking up all five points, including a good 5-0 win over Wyke Wan

Get Well Soon Josh Buckley!

The injury curse continues for Rangers as defender Josh Buckley now joins Joe Straker and Jack Abbott on the list of players unavailable. Unfortunately, during a tackle last weekend against East End Park, Josh sustained a broken foot and is now in pot for at least the next six weeks. All at Rangers wish Josh a very speedy recovery and we hope to see him back in action sooner, rather than later.

Congratulations To Nick Morris.

All at Kirk Deighton Rangers AFC would like to say well done to club legend Nick "Lefty" Morris for his call up to the England squad! After a while waiting for an international call-up, Manager Gareth Southgate, decided that, after the dodgy performance against the Czech Republic last night, it was time to take action and has drafted the "Deighton Destroyer" into the ranks! In all seriousness, Nick has been called up into the England Walking Football squad, and we all wish him the best and hope to see him featuring in many matches. Hopefully, we will be able to keep you up-to-date with Nick's progress. Well done Nick.

East End Park v Kirk Deighton Rangers Match Preview.

Rangers return to league action tomorrow following their 9-2 win in the League Cup last Saturday, as a trip over to Skelton Road and East End Park awaits Dan Marshall’s men. The match has a 2:30 pm kick-off time and the weather should be favourable with sunny intervals and a gentle breeze in store. The Opposition. East End Park are known to be a notoriously difficult team to play, but even they will be slightly disappointed with their start to the season, lying in 11th place with 11 points. On their own ground, they have won, drawn and lost one apiece, with six goals being scored (averaging 2 goals per home game) and nine being conceded (averaging 3 goals per home game). A win for us could s
